Collection: John Cannavan

John Cannavan studied Drawing and Painting at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. Following a long career teaching art in Edinburgh, he now dedicates much of his time to painting, with works held in private collections throughout the UK and internationally.

Inspired by the Scottish landscape, particularly Glenlivet in the Highlands and the dramatic West Coast, John’s paintings capture the character and beauty of Scotland’s natural world. Working exclusively in oils, he explores landscapes, seascapes and wildlife, using the medium’s rich colour, texture and depth to evoke the atmosphere of the places and subjects he knows so well.
