Tim Cockburn

Tim Cockburn is a Scottish artist and printmaker based in the historic harbour town of Pittenweem. Born in Sheffield in 1955, he studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1978, before spending time living and working in Tuscany and travelling in India and Sri Lanka.

In the late 1980s, Cockburn worked at Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop, where he collaborated with artists on editioning prints and led printmaking courses. He later lectured part-time at Telford College of Education and went on to serve as Chairman of Edinburgh Printmakers from 1990 to 1994.

Cockburn has exhibited widely across Scotland, and his work is held in numerous public and private collections, including HM The Queen, the University of Edinburgh, Fife Council, Art in Hospitals and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

His work is known for its distinctive and characterful style, often depicting familiar scenes from everyday life. With a keen eye for detail, he captures both the humour and humanity of his subjects, bringing ordinary moments to life with warmth and observation.
