Charles Randak

Charles Randak is a Scottish painter and graduate of the Glasgow School of Art. Born in Edinburgh, his practice is informed by a strong artistic lineage and a lifelong connection to painting, drawing inspiration from both personal heritage and lived experience.

Working primarily in oils on canvas, Randak creates direct, expressive works built from unfussy brushwork and knife application. His “Statement Pieces” focus on clarity of place and atmosphere, using texture and colour to reflect the natural reality of a scene without artificiality or overstatement.

His work is rooted in a desire to capture real locations and moments in time—particularly coastal and sky-led landscapes—offering the viewer a sense of calm, reflection, and escape. While his focus is often the West of Scotland, his subject matter also extends to scenes drawn from travel, including Italy and the Caribbean, where light, colour, and atmosphere remain central.
