Ken Ferguson

Ken has been painting full time since 1990. He lives in Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders. His love for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland has always been a profound source of inspiration. The wide open spaces of the coasts and mountain tops are reflected in his work, as he masterfully captures the terrific scale of these beautiful Scottish landscapes.

Describing his process Ken explains, “Although I like to paint in a realistic style, I edit the landscape quite freely when I feel it is appropriate to capture the effect I want.
Clear days in the mountains and on the coast have been a major inspiration for many years.  The Rannoch, Glen Coe, Mamore area has to rank near the top, but I have always enjoyed the post-sunset afterglow in the highlands: when the wind drops away and sea or loch becomes a mirror, a serene transformation occurs.”
