Collection: Audrey Henderson

Audrey Henderson’s art is rooted in a lifelong habit of looking closely at the world around her. Trained in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, she later spent many years teaching art, an experience that continually shaped and enriched her own creative practice.

Working from her home in rural Stirlingshire, Audrey draws deep inspiration from the woodland landscape that surrounds her. The trees, shifting light, and especially the hidden remnants of old dry stone dykes tucked among the undergrowth provide a quiet but powerful presence in her work. These traces of the past, woven into the natural environment, form an important thread throughout her collection.

Audrey begins by sketching and painting outdoors, responding directly to the atmosphere and structure of the land. Back in the studio, she develops these studies into finished pieces using a variety of media, including watercolour, oils, acrylic, and printmaking. Her work often plays with the contrast between bold, defined lines and softer, layered textures, reflecting both the strength and fragility of the landscape she depicts.

The result is artwork that feels thoughtful, grounded, and deeply connected to place — inviting the viewer to pause and look a little closer.
