Lingering Light

As summer begins to draw to a close, Lingering Light brings together a rich and varied selection of work at The Torrance Gallery, reflecting on the changing character of light, landscape and place as one season gives way to the next.
Bookending our spring exhibition New Light, this collection follows the story onwards - from the brightness and possibility of the year’s first light towards the softer, more evocative light of late summer. It is a moment of transition: the days begin to shorten, the landscape shifts, and the familiar warmth of summer starts to take on a different quality.
Alan Cameron – A Legacy
29th Aug - 19th Sept
Alan Cameron’s work brings together a lifelong sensitivity to landscape, architecture and atmosphere. Working principally in pastel, he found enduring inspiration in Scotland and Italy, distilling each place through colour, structure and light.
The Torrance Gallery is proud to represent his estate and present works from across his career.

Common Ground

Jane Kitching’s new exhibition, Common Ground, turns her lively eye for city life towards the bonds that hold us together, exploring kinship, family, friendship and the shared experiences that unfold at home and within the neighbourhood.
Working in oils and mixed media, Jane builds richly layered scenes through expressive colour, texture and detail, bringing together figures, interiors and the familiar objects of everyday life. Her paintings find significance in the ordinary: conversations around a table, moments of companionship, domestic rituals and the small encounters that shape our sense of belonging. At once intimate and exuberant, Common Ground is a celebration of connection and community, and of the places and relationships through which we come to know one another.

FEE DICKSON REID
Solace of the Sea

In Solace of the Sea, North Berwick–based artist Fee Dickson Reid turns to the East Lothian coastline for a deeply personal exploration of light, weather and the restorative pull of the sea.
Working primarily in oils, Fee creates expressive, atmospheric seascapes that balance movement with stillness. Her paintings are shaped by daily encounters with the coast near her home and studio, capturing changing skies, shifting water and the quiet sense of space found at the shoreline.
Solace of the Sea brings together a new body of work that invites viewers to pause, breathe and reconnect with the calming, elemental presence of the coast.

Following the sell-out success of his work in the New Light exhibition, Al returns to The Torrance Gallery with a solo exhibition of new original work.
Places is a solo exhibition by Al Bell presenting semi-abstract landscapes inspired by the Scottish countryside. Moving along a fluid line between realism and abstraction, the works explore memory, atmosphere, and the emotional resonance of familiar places.
Daniel Roy Sharples: Solo Exhibition
