Collection: Roddy Lakin

Roddy Lakin (b. 1950) originates from the Isle of Lewis, and now lives and works from his home in Edinburgh. He was brought up in and around the Midlands. He did a degree in History and Psychology, and also studied History of Art at Aberdeen University.  He taught History at several Edinburgh schools.

Roddy’s colourful and energetic paintings show the influence of the French Impressionists and Scottish Colourists. To study these great historical works in person, he has enjoyed visiting galleries across the world from Paris to Havana, and is looking forward to an upcoming Vermeer exhibition in Amsterdam.

Roddy has established himself as a leading Scottish artist, with work in private collections throughout the UK, as well as in France and Spain. His uplifting, expressive paintings are highly sought after, and we are delighted to show so many of his beautiful paintings here in The Torrance Gallery.
