Anna Sherburn

Anna Sherburn is an artist based in East Sussex who works primarily with global postage stamps, both old and new, to create contemporary framed pieces. Anna celebrates these humble, familiar objects by intentionally breaking the conventional rules of philately, elevating them into artworks to be seen and enjoyed.

The stamps she meticulously selects are individually mounted on stainless steel pins, raised away from the background so they appear to "float." This three-dimensional feature creates shadows and movement, giving each composition a sense of depth and reverence. The suspended stamps gently curve, reflecting light in a textural way.

"I love the visual language of specimen cabinets in natural history collections, where beautiful treasures are mounted on pins to invite close examination of the details." Anna trained and worked as a woven textile designer before starting a family; her sensitivity to colour and her meticulous pinning technique are defining features of her work.
