Julie Dumbarton

Julie Dumbarton is an artist and tutor and lives and works in the beautiful countryside near Penrith. She has renovated an incredible old farm, creating wildflower meadows on the farmland they own, which she then incorporates into her paintings.

Working with a unique technique of painting and layering oils and paper, Julie tears back strips of the surface to create multi-layered, multi-dimensional surfaces; employing incredible colour in her abstract landscapes and woodscapes. Hugely appealing images, Julie’s work is collected around the globe, with a dedicated online following on her popular Instagram account.

Julie says of her work: ‘I’ve been drawing longer than I can remember, and painting since not much after that.  As a youngster I was often to be found roaming the Lake District hills with my brother, sister and parents. Many weekends were spent scrambling up hills – surrounded by glorious landscapes, atmospheric skies and colourful plants’
