Collection: Jean Hall

Jean Hall was born in Dundee and studied at Edinburgh College of Art. After sixteen years as an Art & Design lecturer, she now works as a full-time painter, exhibiting across the UK and internationally.

Her work is driven by a love of colour, pattern and decorative surface. Early exposure to Indian and Oriental textiles, ceramics and carpets continues to influence her approach to composition and palette.

A sense of calm runs throughout her paintings, shaped by an interest in Eastern philosophy and Japanese visual culture. Flattened perspective, simplified spaces and imagined settings create quietly balanced works that invite stillness and reflection.
