Collection: Susie Collingbourne

Susie Collingbourne is an Edinburgh-based artist whose expressive landscapes are inspired by the wild and remote places of Scotland. From windswept beaches and desolate moors to Highland lochs and islands, her paintings explore the changing weather, light and atmosphere of the landscape.

Working intuitively with loose, expressive marks, Susie builds her paintings through layers of acrylic over a gold gesso ground, often incorporating touches of gold leaf. Her work captures fleeting moments of movement and transition - ripples across distant water, a darkening sky or the soft haze of morning haar - creating atmospheric landscapes that invite the viewer into the scene.

Susie studied English Literature and Language before working in publishing in Edinburgh and London. She later trained at Leith School of Art, where she developed her distinctive approach to abstract landscape painting. She now works from a light-filled studio in Edinburgh and exhibits throughout the UK, with her work held in collections both in Britain and overseas.
