Collection: Lingering Light, A Mixed Exhibition
As summer begins to draw to a close, Lingering Light brings together a rich and varied selection of work at The Torrance Gallery, reflecting on the changing character of light, landscape and place as one season gives way to the next.
Bookending our spring exhibition New Light, this collection follows the story onwards - from the brightness and possibility of the year’s first light towards the softer, more evocative light of late summer. It is a moment of transition: the days begin to shorten, the landscape shifts, and the familiar warmth of summer starts to take on a different quality.
Featuring work by Sarah Anderson, Paula Deas, Susie Collingbourne, Mark Parker, Al Bell, James Potter, Ania Pieniazek, Jason M Bentley, Ben Hopkins, Wendy Davidson, Amanda Phillips, Craigo, Sophie Botsford, Joyce Gunn Cairns, David Parker, Elizabeth Cameron and more, Lingering Light brings together artists whose work explores the many ways light can shape our experience of the world - from expansive landscapes and atmospheric scenes to more intimate and unexpected interpretations.
More than a seasonal collection, Lingering Light is about the stories held within these changing moments. It invites us to pause at the end of summer and look a little longer: at the landscape, at the light, and at the memories and possibilities that sit between one season and the next.
The exhibition continues at The Torrance Gallery as Edinburgh moves towards a new season.
