He spent four years teaching in Hong Kong, an experience that continues to influence his work and fascination with the character of urban spaces. Alongside his artistic practice, he is Head of Art \u0026amp; Design at a secondary school in Lancashire.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePainting predominantly en plein air, Sharples is drawn to the challenge of working within constantly changing environments. By painting on location rather than from photographs, he captures the vitality, atmosphere, and authenticity of a place, creating works that resonate with memory and lived experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK, including at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition.
